Christopher Norman Russell Prentice (born 5 September 1954) is the British Ambassador to Italy, formally styled ''Her Britannic Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Italian Republic'', he took up his appointment in January 2011.〔()〕 Prentice has been a British diplomat since 1977. From 2007 to 2009 he served as British Ambassador to Iraq〔()〕 and, from 2002 to 2006, as British Ambassador to Jordan. ==Personal life== Born in The Borough, London, Prentice is a former cricketer who played a single first-class cricket match for Oxford University, scoring 4 and 19 in a game against Worcestershire.〔("Christopher Prentice" ) ''Cricinfo'' database.
